First Riviera Maya Cup Regatta
From the 27 to the 30 of April the 1st. Riviera Maya Cup 2012 will take place, important event for the Mexican sailors because this race team will come to represent Mexico in the most important competitions worldwide.

This event, supported and promoted by the Mexican Association of Optimist Class Sailors (AMVCO), chaired by Giovanni Aloi, will be held at the Sailing Club Deportivo Puerto Aventuras in Quintana Roo, which will get together over 500 people, including competitors and visitors.

Giovanni Aloi said the sailing is a sport that is taking more projection in our country, so the agency decided to move the heats at different venues in Mexico.

This proposal is intended so that athletes can gain more experience and preparation to face the international tournaments such as the Optimist World Championships to be held in July in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

"We believe that Mexico, as in other countries, the development of sailing might do in the near future an industry generating high-performance athletes," the president of the AMVCO.

Another of the most anticipated competitions in 2012, is the North American Sailing Championship Optimist Class 2012, which, thanks to the management AMVCO will take place from 20 to 28 October in Valle de Bravo. This event will bring together 200 sailors and delegations from 25 countries in America, as well as major teams in Europe and Asia.

The purely recreational sailing is a fun and healthy tourist attraction, where children and young people have the opportunity to make a career in the sport and promote our country as an ecological tourist service provider.

"In Mexico we have more than 12000 km of coastline with unsurpassed sailing conditions for its climate, mild winds and calm beautiful beaches," the representative of AMVCO concluded.

This benefits of our ecosystem and promotes the sport nationally, it represents an important economic flow that would not affect natural resources in the regions where this sport is practiced.
